Milan – Italian fashion house Prada has created a video look book called Real Fantasies to introduce its autumn/winter 2012 collection, which features Netstalgia-inspired visual cues.
The scenes in the film feature models moving around a set reminiscent of Fritz Lang’s silent sci-fi film Metropolis. In the background there is low-tech machinery, jagged angles and moving GIF-style imagery. The actions of the models are enigmatic and hint at a larger narrative behind the scenes that the viewer is shown.
This is a well-executed film short, and a departure from the promotional lifestyle films released by rival fashion houses. For more information, see our forthcoming round-up of fashion film campaigns for the autumn/winter 12 season.
