Colombia – Advertising agency Young & Rubicam Colombia has created the TwitPoker campaign in which players in an online poker game bet with their Twitter followers to launch Colombian travel agency Viajes Galeón’s Twitter account.
The game featured five influential Colombian tweeters playing a game of poker using their Twitter followers instead of money to bet. The game was streamed live on Twitcam and followers could tweet to influence players’ decisions and to have a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas, using the hashtags #GaleonViajes and #Twitpoker.
Viajes Galeón’s Twitter presence increased by 1,467% in a single day as 12,000 people watched the TwitPoker game.
This is a great example of a brand enlisting online influencers to gain the trust and following of its fan base and is a response to the Personal Information Economy.
