New age thinking: Playful twist on elderly aids

02 : 05 : 2012 Lanzavecchia + Wai : No Country For Old Men : Together Canes

Milan – Italian-Singaporean design studio Lanzavecchia + Wai presented a collection of domestic aids for the elderly at Milan Design Week called No Country For Old Men, which embraces a fun and functional aesthetic.

Consisting of the Together Canes, Assunta Chair and Monolight Table Lamp, the collection offers an aesthetically pleasing alternative to the more clinical apparatus that dominates the elderly aids market.

Crafted from wood with rounded edges and a smooth finish, each of the Together Canes has an added blue plastic element, such as a tray, to enhance the functionality of the mobility support.

No Country For Old Men indicates an increase in consumer demand for design-led products for the elderly, and is a great example of practical products being given a more playful appearance. Find out more in our Fun and Functionality mircrotrend.
