Amsterdam – Creative agency Weiden + Kennedy has developed a virtual Christmas dinner experience in which participants can see one another’s faces on screens on Skype-controlled robot diners.
Created by the agency’s Amsterdam branch, the Virtual Holiday Dinner features five robots fitted with video cameras to their faces. Facial tracking software in the robots enables participants to control the virtual diners by moving their heads from side to side. Diners can book a table for five for a 30-minute slot through the Virtual Holiday Dinner website.
‘We’ve used the finest technology known to man to ensure this is as awkward as any real-life family holiday dinner,’ says Weiden + Kennedy Amsterdam managing director Lee Newman. ‘Maybe more so.’
