Belo Horizonte – Brazilian architect Fred Mafra has redesigned the Roxy/Josefine nightclub with a striking ceiling structure featuring more than 100 hexagons.
Mafra worked on the club’s interior four years ago, so the project offered a chance for him to revisit his work. ‘Reforming your own project brings you a special freedom that comes from already mastering the space you are working with as well as from the confidence you get from being the owner of your work,’ he says.
The new design embraces straight lines and asymmetry to convey ideas of ‘convenience, escapism, flexibility and modern technology’.
