Florence – Raf Simons has an intensely colourful vision for menswear next spring. The Belgian designer’s Jil Sander spring summer 2011 presentation at Pitti Uomo saw models wearing a dazzling array of bright colours.
Against a backdrop of a Tuscan villa garden, Simons’ showed his signature sharp cuts in trousers and shirting in solid bold hues of yellows, oranges, blues, greens and pinks. The designer injected even more colour into bright striped tops inspired by the installation artist Jim Lambie, while the soles of shoes were painted a fluorescent pink.
Alongside Prada’s runway show in Milan this week, the Jil Sander show signaled yet another bright start for menswear next summer.
