Wellness for women

17 : 10 : 2016 Love Wellness : The Athena Woman : Health & Wellness

US – Love Wellness is a line of feminine wellness products that destigmatises vaginal health.

  • Created by Lo Bosworth, who was unsatisfied with chemical-laden options available to women
  • Love Wellness is a range of all-natural products aimed at maintaining good feminine health

When founder and American television personality Lo Bosworth was beset with yeast infections, she was told by a doctor that she had ‘bad plumbing’. Unwilling to accept that answer, and uncomfortable with using suppositories that have chemical ingredients, Bosworth turned to a time-tested ingredient: boric acid.

Until now, boric acid could only be accessed with a prescription and then the powder needed to be taken to a compounding pharmacy to be put into capsules. But Love Wellness’s The Killer provides an over-the-counter, pre-made suppository. It is just one item in Love Wellness’s line of feminine care products, that also includes coconut oil feminine wipes, probiotics and a blue green algae tea – all come in minimalist packaging that can sit openly on a bathroom shelf.

‘Why can’t we elevate the experience of being a woman and take care of our bodies in a way that is enjoyable rather than embarrassing?’ says Bosworth.

The Big Picture

Unlike other bathroom products, feminine hygiene products are not designed to be on display. But Love Wellness and others like China’s new tampon brand Fémme, are proving that design can elevate any product and that women’s biology is nothing to be ashamed about.
