London – Designers Bruno Basso and Christopher Brooke will display a print and textile collection inspired by their journey to Uzbekistan.
The British Council selected the pair to take part in an exchange programme as part of its New Silk Road project which aims to combine craft skills from central and south Asia with the contemporary visual language of UK designers.
Basso and Brooke undertook a 10-day research tour which included working with weavers at the Yodgorlik silk mill in the Fergana Valley.
The final collection, including dresses in playful colours such as bright pink, blue and red, will be displayed at the Design Museum’s Tank from 16 June until 24 August.
Basso & Brooke’s colourful prints are attracting global interest. LS:N Global recently reported that Turning Leaf, the Californian vineyard, has launched a collaboration with the design duo for spring/summer 2010. We will be keeping our eyes open for more.
