New York – A packaging innovation will make drinking hot beverages on the go much easier.
Developed by Amron Experimental, Heatswell is an interesting take on the cardboard sleeves typically found on disposable hot beverage cups. The insulating band reacts to heat, causing it to swell when hot liquid is poured into the cup, protecting the holder’s hand from getting burnt.
When a brand’s logo is printed onto the cup it becomes embossed as the Heatswell material expands, creating a ‘pop-up’ logo.
The reactive packaging is non-toxic, FDA approved, recyclable and biodegradable. It also means that retailers do not need to buy or fiddle about with sleeves and cups separately.
This is an example of the practical and lean packaging required in today’s retail environment.
