Milan – Visitors to this year’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile can experience the COS cave, an immersive space where art and architecture collide to celebrate its spring/summer 2015 collection.
The Swedish retailer has collaborated with interior designers Snarkitecture, who have translated COS’s simplistic yet modern design philosophy into a sublime consumer experience. The affect is achieved through the construction of thousands of strips of layered fabrics hanging floor to ceiling, through which visitors can wander. ‘We came up with an immersive environment that draws on the familiar qualities of fabric and the primal nature of caverns to create a world of reflection, exploration and interaction,’ explains Daniel Arsham and Alex Mustonen of Snarkitecture. COS has also created a meditative space in Hong Kong. The Zen garden, which features minimal branding, is a way for the brand to engender a more meaningful relationship with consumers.
