Lava lights: Ace Hotel hosts psychedelic light installation

23 : 01 : 2015 Ace Hotel : Shoreditch : Joshua Light Show

London – Look up on Shoreditch High Street to see Joshua Light Show’s psychedelic display of oozing bubbles and dripping colours set to the score of PT Anderson’s Inherent Vice.

Collaborative art studio Joshua Light Show artists Brock Monroe and Seth Kirby created the kaleidoscopic projections using home-made bubblers and light sticks, pouring coloured liquids between glass slides to leave a melting pot of vivid hues.

Adding heat and turbulence resulted in what Joshua Light Show’s music director Nick Hallett describes as ‘deliciously chaotic’ reactions, carried out with intense control to the rhythmic pulses of Jonny Greenwood’s music for the film, a stylish detective story set in the 1970s.

The Inherent Vice: Joshua Light Show Installation is free to visit until 25 January at Ace Hotel’s 100 Room, or can be seen in part from street level.
