New York – Creative studio MPC Digital has partnered with artist Thompson Harrell to create The Color Project, a digital wall which uses Google Earth images to home in on specific hues.
The rectangular installation involves 27 HD screens, which are divided in half diagonally. Each section begins with a satellite image of the earth before zooming in a synchronised movement to end up focused on a single colour, creating a mosaic effect across the installation. The chosen locations were all settings for films produced by the Independent Filmmaker Project.
The motion of this installation is what interaction designer Jason Bruges would call the ‘choreography of the built environment’. For more on how to incorporate this into your strategy, read our Portfolio feature with Jason Bruges Studio.
