Islay, Scotland – A growing interest in science is permeating our visual culture.
Whisky maker Elements of Islay is packaging its products in simple medicine-style bottles while the labels mimic the periodic table. Eight distilleries around the island of Islay contribute to the range of drinks and the label on each bottle features a chemical symbol alluding to the relevant distillery, along with the whisky’s batch number.
The bottles draw attention to the chemistry of spirits. The unique smell and taste of each whisky is due to a number of factors, including the previous contents of the barrel.
Elements of Islay taps into consumer demand to know where their food and drink products come from, and for original products made from natural ingredients without unnecessary additives.
