London – In an experiment in digital collaborative publishing, Collate, an installation at the Victoria and Albert museum for the London Design Festival, invited members of the public to design their own pages for a printed book.
The installation, by London-based creative practice Six:Thirty, comprised a series of touchscreens that enabled users to choose different images and create a page based on a theme. They could then vote on the best pages. The most popular will be compiled into the Collate book and will be accompanied by text by It’s Nice That editor-in-chief Rob Alderson and journalist Joël Vacheron.
‘With the growth of online communities, consumption of information has become a more active experience,’ according to Six:Thirty.
Collate brings the collaborative element of the internet into a physical space, appealing to the Curator Generation of consumers who prefer to create content rather than just consume it.
