Ghent – The design of Baar, a restaurant, bar and club in the ultra-hip Belgian city of Ghent, brings new meaning to industrial chic. With furniture made from pipes, exposed bricks and oversized lampshades, the interior creates a dramatic vibe inspired by Andy Warhol’s Factory.
While exposed piping and brickwork is the interior du jour, designers Lieven Musschoot and Piet Hein Eek’s collaboration breathes new life into the aesthetic. Eek supplied pipes from his factory in Eindhoven, stacking them to create sofas, the bar and the DJ booth. High ceilings, dark brick and a gargantuan lighting installation create an underground, urban setting.
Baar’s interior design is reminiscent of LS:N Global’s Heavy Industry design direction, which examines the trend of using industrial materials to create a utilitarian and stripped-down aesthetic.
