London – Architecture firm VW + BS has designed a stackable tea set made from purple clay that softens the liquid within.
Inspired by traditional Chinese teapots, which use twice-fired clay, the Silt tea set uses the mineral because of its purifying properties. Since the clay does not have a glaze, its natural properties interact with the water to soften its taste, similar to the way activated charcoal cleanses liquids.
The Silt tea set is representative of a wider concern about the purity of water and the standard of tea. To learn more, see our A Whole New Blend microtrend, which examines how consumers are focusing on the health benefits of the herbal drink.
