Paris – French designer Mathieu Lehanneur’s dramatic interior for Electric, a multi-function ‘alternative cultural centre’ in Paris, uses unusual materials to create a tree-inspired soundscape and installation.
Created in collaboration with architect Ana Moussinet, the interior of Electric is dominated by towering black trees, which are made from lighting projectors and electric cables.
The large customisable space also features soundproofed modules, split levels to create the sense of different zones, a dance floor, an outdoor terrace and a breathtaking view of the Paris skyline.
During the day, the vast penthouse area dotted with trunk-shaped stools and geometric sofas is a place to hang out, eat and listen to music, while at night it can be used for anything from album launches to a club where patrons dance beneath the trees.
