San Francisco – The Fenix ReadySet kit is a portable battery developed by designers Mike Lin and Brian Warshawsky that provides energy for rural Africans.
The ReadySet can be charged by bicycle, solar panels or directly from the power grid. It produces 100W of electricity at the lowest possible cost, enabling consumers in impoverished areas to power their homes. The battery also stores energy for future use, which means there is no waste.
Although initially developed for rural Africans, the product has also proved successful in the US owing to its lightweight form, iPad plugs, USB connectors and car charger features.
