Paris – Italian design brand Autori Vari has released its first collection, which takes inspiration from the laws of physics.
The collection features a kitchen weighing scale called Bilancia di Archimede, which uses Archimedes’ buoyancy principle. The scales float in water and the extent to which they sink shows how heavy the ingredients are.
A wine pourer that distributes wine equally four ways is based on Pascal’s Principle, and a vase called Vaso Comunicante uses another basic law of physics to show how much water is in an opaque container.
The pieces in the collection use the theme of physics to make their use more fluent and increase their ease of use. For more about designers making ergonomic pieces read our Intuitive Utility design direction.
