Portugal – Designer Joana Carvalho has created Kit Café, a practical coffee kit made from a biodegradable biopolymer that can be planted after use.
The eco-friendly kit was made using minimal resources. A single-injection mould was used to create everything needed to enjoy a coffee – a spoon, a saucer and a cup. Kit Café is also stackable, saving space during transportation.
‘The shape was inspired by a plastic model kit,’ says Carvalho. ‘It has a low production cost and all the pieces can be made at the same time.’
This is a great example of how brands are embracing a cradle-to-cradle methodology to boost their green credentials. For more on how brands are considering the environment, read our cradle-to-cradle production micro trend.
