Milan – Three new pieces at Established & Sons echo the Revivalist movement LS:N Global has been tracking.
The Mammoth Tapestry, Meteor Ottoman and Volcano Rug by Klaus Haapaniemi and Mia Wallenius combine ancient craft and mythology with a modern sense of fun. ‘They’re made using a 15th-century craft – Flemish tapestry,’ Sebastian Wrong, co-founder of Established & Sons, tells LS:N Global.
Haapaniemi, an award-winning Finnish designer who had worked for Disney and Selfridges, and Wallenius, formerly an art director at Gucci and visual director of the Hel Yes! pop-up restaurant and exhibition at London Design Week 2010, add the fun through characters from mythical stories such as pterodactyls, flying fish, sea monsters, woolly mammoths and meteors.
These pieces mirror the revived methods that LS:N Global has been following in one of this decade’s defining movements: Revivalism.
