Cold play: New logo changes with the weather

Oslo – The Nordkyn peninsula in Finnmark, Norway, is about as far north, and as cold as it gets, in Europe. To promote tourism in the area, Oslo-based branding company Neue Design Studio was asked to create an online identity for its website to reflect the qualities of this remote area and encourage people to visit Nordkyn.

The visual identity comprises two parts: a new slogan, Der Naturen RAR (where nature rules), and a logo that continually changes in response to weather statistics and data on atmospheric conditions from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute. The logo gradually alters in colour and shape as the conditions change, with magenta and turquoise indicating a rise and fall in temperature.

As more people come into contact with brands through their computers and on their phones, a flexible and animated logo can be very successful.
