Working with Lunette, a Finnish female-run company, Monki has developed a limited-edition menstrual cup as a safer and cost-effective alternative to sanitary towels and tampons. The cups, which will be priced at £25 ($31.95, €28.60), are eco-friendly and designed to be re-used for years.

Monki and Lunette will also donate 5,000 cups to The Cup Foundation, a non-profit-making company that provides young women in Kenya with access to menstrual care and education.

The collaboration is part of the Scandinavian retailer’s continuing project to empower women and normalise periods. In 2016, the brand launched its #monkifesto campaign, which celebrated typically stigmatised issues such as body hair and masturbation.

The Big Picture

  • By bringing feminine care products to its young collections, Monki proves how fashion brands can play a part in ending the stigma of periods
