12 : 01 : 2017 How Much Of This Is Fiction : FACT : Exhibition

Liverpool – A new exhibition by the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology (FACT) examines reality and post-truth politics.

  • How Much of This is Fiction explores the nature of truth through politically inspired artworks
  • The exhibition will feature 14 installations and pieces by a variety of international artists

The exhibition, which runs from 2 March until 21 May 2017, examines the radical shift that has occurred in the space between reality and fiction in a world of fake news and post-truth politics.

Politically inspired artworks that explore themes including deception, hacking and hoaxes aim to reveal the inner workings of existing power structures and present a vision of an alternative future.

The exhibition is split into two separate sections. Zone 1: The Newsroom examines the effect of fabricated news stories on media and society, while Zone 2: Guantanamo Bay Museum for Art and History features installations that highlight the potential of hoaxes in addressing urgent issues.

According to FACT, the show also serves a historical purpose, with many of the pieces inspired by Tactical Media, a cultural and political movement born out of the desire to create political disorder using digital media.
