Santiago – Clothes store, creative lab and exhibition gallery Espacio Colaborativo Nalca has opened to support the local fashion sector.
Designed to stimulate creative interaction with the local fashion sector, Espacio Colaborativo Nalca wants to alleviate the dominance of the international fashion industry in regional markets.
The initiative has been split into three clear programmes, each dealing with a different area. The commercial platform encompasses five brands that are producing fashion using local manufacturing. The creative lab accommodates new ideas and innovations around the requirements of a designer or artist, and the exhibition space celebrates the process of creation, rather than just the final product.
Minimal in its aesthetic, the gallery-like setting was designed by Pedro Silva in collaboration with Chilean brand Nalca Shoes. Owing to the number of creatives who will be involved with the initiative, the aim is for Espacio Colaborativo Nalca to renew itself constantly as a channel for sustainable local development.
With an increasing awareness about the effects of consumer habits, brands are giving as much thought to the social and environmental aspects of a business as they are the financial. For more, see the Sustainability Market report.
