UK – Quartz company Caesarstone has collaborated with food design studio Arabeschi di Latte to create a conceptual cookbook.
The book, A Material Menu: Designs for the Culinary Aesthetic, features eight recipes as well as a series of food stories that revolve around the elemental themes of earth, wind, air and fire. Foods from the Earth theme include Stone Sandwiches and Testaroli pesto pancakes and for Fire, cauliflower-based dish The Dark Trophy and goat’s cheese Torteau Fromager.
The recipes have been designed to combine traditional dishes with the ingredients and cooking methods of the themes. The book’s photography is by Tom Mannion with graphic design by Micha Weidmann Studio.
Speaking to Wallpaper* magazine, Francesca Sarti of Arabeschi di Latte said ‘the book gave me the chance to develop our Milan menu and work on eight new recipes to represent the elements that would not only delight and provoke the taste buds but tantalise the eyes and echo Caesarstone’s work surfaces in a way that would further explore the boundaries between food and design’.
A Material Menu: Designs for the Culinary Aesthetic is an extension of a collaboration between Caesarstone, Arabeschi di Latte and designer Tom Dixon shown earlier this year. Read more about the project in our Milan Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2016 Briefing.
