Between the lines

08 : 01 : 2016 Anti : Barcode : Placemaking

Oslo – Design agency Anti has created a visual identity for Barcode, Norway’s largest building project.

  • The project’s unique architecture is based on protected lines of sight between the structures
  • The buildings will house private and public terraces, commercial properties and around 360 residences

At the edge of Oslo’s Bjørvika district, the city’s first skyline stands tall. The Barcode project, named after the asymmetrical distancing between its residential and commercial nine- to 16-storey buildings, is designed to preserve views of the fjord.

Anti’s visual identity for the building’s online and physical spaces includes banners and installations, and finer details such as lapel pins and other accessories. The six-pronged logo is inspired by the silhouette of the skyline.

‘The result is not just a logo, it’s a system,’ Anti said in a statement. ‘A system that creates space for possibilities for the experiences between the Barcode buildings.’

The Big Picture

Shopping districts around the world are investing heavily in rebranding as consumers, especially luxurians, demand spaces that foster a strong and inspiring sense of locality. Find out more in our New Urban Guilds microtrend.
