Below zero: Multi-sensory exhibition explores temperature extremes

26 : 03 : 2014 Milan : Salone Internazionale Del Mobile : Multi-sensory

Milan – Communications research centre Fabrica is hosting a multi-sensory exhibition during the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2014 that explores the concept of temperature through design.

The HOT&COLD exhibition will include sculptural installations and an ‘immersive laboratory’ where visitors can interact with hot and cold experiences created by a variety of artists. An interactive website will also enable designers to feature their inspiration and creative process.

‘In this project we conceived design as a practice that must communicate through form and function,’ says Sam Baron, director of design at Fabrica. ‘[It is] an exchange between opposites.’

The play between opposites is something we identified in our macrotrend, The Polarity Paradox. For more on Milan Design Week, look out for LS:N Global’s on-the-ground coverage of Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2014 from 8 to 13 April.
