Czech Republic – Czech Studio Muon has created a hair salon with an industrial and warehouse aesthetic.
Brands are increasingly providing more extreme environments for consumers as our climate and world become more unpredictable, as we reported in our Survivability macro inspire feature.
The Táňa Kmenta Hair Studio in Brno, Czech Republic, appears exposed and raw, with cables showing, spotlights suspended from the ceiling, mirrors bolted to the floor and concrete blocks used throughout, creating a building site and warehouse look.
Divided into zones, the reception and washing hair areas are tucked away for a more secluded feel, while the hair styling area is on an elevated platform, reinforcing the idea of exposure and enabling customers and passers-by to see the stylists at work.
Through the use of black steel, wooden beams and panels against white walls, posters showing models with extreme hairstyles, and the elevated platform where the stylists perform, the designers have created a sense of the theatrical.
