International – The audience at musician Beck’s Sound and Vision concert in Los Angeles were treated to a 360-degree experience. And now, through the Hello, Again project, viewers at home can experience it too.
The concert was designed to offer the audience a fuller experience, and featured three circular stages, with Beck rotating in the centre and the audience rotating around the stage to create a 360-degree effect. In addition, 170 musicians played around the crowd and binaural microphones created 3D stereo sound.
Music director Chris Milk has made the experience global, enabling users to view the concert online through the Hello, Again project page.
Visitors to the website can hear the music and binaural sound effects through their headphones, watch the concert from a range of angles, including on stage with Beck, and use a webcam to move the cameras with their heads.
The project gives users the closest possible perspective of being there, in terms of both sound and vision, with added benefits such as the chance to be on stage with Beck.
