Function rooms: Island Retreat a perfect getaway

01 : 08 : 2012 Design : Bedroom : Tourists

New Zealand – Above Matiatia Bay stands the Island Retreat, a private getaway residence created by architecture firm Fearon Hay.

The retreat comprises free-standing structures designed to accommodate different aspects of a family’s daily routine. Separate buildings house a studio, living and sleeping quarters, each with their own integrated mechanical systems.

The Island Retreat’s exterior is covered in glass panels around the perimeter, while aluminium screens provide shade and solar panels generate electricity.
