Brazil – Technology giant Google has mapped the Amazon River in Street View, in collaboration with the Amazon Sustainable Foundation conservation organisation.
The new endeavour enables people to see and scroll through rivers, forests, footpaths and villages in Street View. The mapping of the Amazon is a positive exercise in raising awareness of the fragility of the world’s largest river, and is also an example of how the internet is penetrating the deepest corners of the world.
