Weimar – German designer Arvid Häusser has designed an espresso machine made from porcelain.
Häusser chose the material for its thermal conductivity and superior functionality. While metallic finishes can have an effect on the flavour of the coffee produced from espresso makers, porcelain helps retain a purer taste.
‘The qualities of porcelain, including high thermal storage, neutrality in taste and an antiseptic surface, make the material ideal for use in the food context,’ explains the designer.
