Brooklyn – Media and design agency Doubleday & Cartwright has created a sports publication called Victory Journal that introduces a cultural angle to sports reporting.
Victory Journal is a departure from sports writing that relies on statistical analysis, and instead ‘unearths the sublime joys of the sporting life through reportage and oral history, photography and illustration,’ according to the publication’s website.
‘We try to capture the humanity behind sport, a philosophical moment that we think is poignant,’ says Aaron Amaro, creative director of Victory Journal. ‘The visual tone is really important, and reflects the grittiness and strain of sport.’
This publication celebrates sport heritage, and would appeal to the Turtleneck Club and New Gents tribes.
