London – Designer Andrew Haythornthwaite has created a series of display furniture for Dutch company Arco, inspired by the Jack-in-the-box children’s toy.
Each of the Autoboxes uses a different mechanical system and a lever to open in a surprising way, revealing hidden sections and levels that pop out from their casings.
‘Each box is animated by a particular movement, presenting its contents in a surprising way – whether it be cigars, cocktails, board games or any other general home things,’ says the designer.
Andrew Haythornthwaite and his design partner Shai Akram use similar experiential details throughout their design practice. For more information, read LS:N Global’s Inform feature.
