Florence – Launched at Pitti Immagine Uomo, the collection was designed to highlight the cultural and creative diversity in the modern world.
The automative brand commissioned five promising designers to create the capsule collection, Mini Fashion – Beyond Native. Designed for the contemporary urban traveller, the designs highlight the experiences of the individual designers, focusing on the cities – a theme that Mini has returned to over the years in various guises – and cultures that have shaped them, while also tapping into a wider idea of Millennial transnationalism.
‘The idea of this collaboration is to give a platform to five creatives with different cultural backgrounds,’ says Sabine Ringel, creative lead at Mini Fashion. ‘The fact that these migrants have experienced and crossed national and cultural boundaries is the very reason for the richness and depth in their design.’
Before Pitti Immagine Uomi, Mini offered a teaser of the collection with a short narrative-led film shown on Nowness.
