Why workplaces are now dedicated to self-care

30 : 05 : 2017 Wellness : Leisure : Workplace

Global – New community and co-working spaces are emerging that provide a nuanced approach to wellness.

Emotional intelligence will be recognised as one of the most sought-after job skills in the future, according to the World Economic Forum, and new community and co-working spaces are now emerging that recognise the benefits of emotional intelligence in a work environment and offer mindfulness classes, group therapy sessions and workshops dedicated to self-care.

In Toronto, women-focused Shecosystem believes that work should be about engaging with the whole self – being your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual self in order to increase productivity and your overall wellbeing. With core feminine values of collaboration, wellness and accessibility, the space includes a gathering room, healing room and co-working space to help women reach their goals.

At Primary, a shared office space in New York, co-founder Lisa Skye Hain believes that ‘people work best when they feel great’. The space is designed to promote total wellness in the workplace – from the biophilic design elements of the space to the services on offer, it aims to create a holistic, relaxing working environment to aid productivity.
