Beautiful game: Nike displays football artistry

Paris – In the lead-up to the World Cup in South Africa, Nike Stadium centres for performers, culture and art have opened in several cities including Paris, Amsterdam and New York.

In Paris, the opening saw the launch of Black Magic – an exhibition featuring the work of French–Korean artist Sanghon Kim. He explores the idea of Africa’s mystical influence through magical colours such as orange for Côte d’Ivoire, yellow for Brazil and dark red for Portugal.

In Amsterdam, the space is inspired by the World Cup with a Blood Orange exhibition to support the Dutch national team. Shelves hang from the roof with Nike shoes, and local underground artist Parra has created an artwork displaying the Nike ‘Lace Up, Save Lives’ tagline.

In New York, the Nike Stadium included movable seating areas and football-inspired interior design. As previously reported on LS:N Global, the Everything is Practice short film by director Spike Lee was on view for the first time.
