Vancouver – Sound design studio GGRP has created a fold-out vinyl sleeve which acts as a record player.
The corrugated cardboard wallet can be folded out to create a miniature record player; the instructions for use are printed on the sleeve, which has a spindle and needle attached, and requires no more than a pencil to spin the record.
The vibrations travel through the needle and the ridged cardboard amplifies the sound; initial discs, which were sent out to production companies across the Canada and the US, featured a story called ‘A Town that Found its Sound’.
This is a clever example of upcycling, a theme we explore further in our Betapreneurs trend report.
