New York – At New York Fashion Week, fashion jewellery line Dannijo presented its autumn 2014 collection with an ethereal mash-up of boxing and ballet.
Seven ballerinas wearing the new pieces gathered around a boxing ring installed at the Eyebeam Art+Technology Center to perform a dance choreographed by Nicola Curry of American Ballet Theatre. The collection, appropriately entitled Boxerina, is inspired by the tension between boxing and ballet.
Dannijo’s jewellery typically blends hard and soft elements, and is a favourite of downtown celebrities and partygoers. The autumn 2014 collection contains metallic spikes and chains contrasted with soft pearls and cameos – hand-carved portraits made from multi-coloured materials.
While the Dannijo collection isn’t gym-ready, the presentation reflects a growing merger between fashion and athletics, as seen in our Body Temples macrotrend.
