Grow your own drugsTV show gets the New Sobriety from medicine
A new UK BBC television series will engage viewers in home science by teaching them to create natural remedies from plants. Homedulgent culture, where people are consuming and entertaining themselves within their domestic environment, is creating new purchasing behaviour that extends beyond mail order services.

The series, called Grow Your Own Drugs, is presented by ethno-botanist James Wong, and will show how commonly found plants and flowers share the same properties as many popular chemical medicines, and thus can be used to create remedies. The programme also highlights the increasing interest among individuals in more sober, alternative ways to consume. Rather than spend at the chemist, a viable option could be to ‘make do and create’ with things they already have in their possession or back garden.
