Las Vegas – Smart measurement device manufacturer Withings has launched its Smart Body Analyzer at International CES, which enables people to take a holistic approach to health.
The device is similar in design to Withings’ Wi-Fi Body Scale, although it combines a new set of functions. The Withings Smart Body Analyzer still measures a user’s weight in the same way as its predecessor, but also charts resting heart rate, body fat ratio and air quality.
‘It was very important for us that this device measured not just the body, but the environment,’ Alexis Arquilliere, product manager at Withings, tells LS:N Global. ‘The analyser is designed to be placed in the bedroom – where you spend a large amount of your time sleeping – and measures the CO2 and temperature of the room.’
‘The resting heart rate is an accurate way of determining people’s fitness and health,’ he adds.
The product won the 2013 CES Innovations award, and communicates wirelessly with the Withings Health Mate mobile application, which plots the user’s resting heart rate and fat ratio over time. The results are then stored, and can be shared with a physician, dietician or with peers over Facebook or Twitter.
