New Zealand – True Food & Yoga, a new food and fitness retreat in Auckland, provides sustenance for both the body and the soul.
Restaurateurs Nic and Kelly Watt have conceived a simple space that combines the restorative, de-stressing powers of exercise with the nourishment of good food.
The yoga studios play host to a variety of classes that run throughout the day, including Yin/Yang, a type of yoga that focuses on stillness, and Sunrise Vinyasa. The building also includes a bistro, a beauty room, a studio shop and a chiropractor clinic. The food menu focuses on combining nutrient-dense ingredients.
The refit, designed by architect Kit Lowe, was inspired by the Manipura chakra – the fire element that is central to human health – and makes use of the building’s original basalt stone structure and steel window framework, which has been tempered with wall plants and wood to create a more inviting environment.
‘True is designed to connect food, yoga and lifestyle,’ Nic told Wallpaper.
