Valencia – Smartphone and tablet repair shop Doctor Manzana has made a clear departure from the untidy aesthetic of a gadget workshop, and instead borrowed design cues from hospitals and medical centres.
Design agency Masquespacio created the look with the name of the shop in mind, and used turquoise and blue colours to communicate the idea. ‘We wanted to create a playful concept, but make sure that it wasn’t using too many literal elements from a hospital,’ says Christophe Penasse, marketing director from the studio. ‘I think we ended up with something that feels fresh and young.’
As more hospitals and medical services are being re-invented in a more design-conscious way, LS:N Global expects to see more lifestyle categories borrowing themes from the medical industry. For an example of how good design is improving healthcare, read our Innovate feature on A Better A&E.
