Los Angeles – Ace Hotel is bringing some of its signature cocktails to room service, so that shy hotel guests do not have to enter the busy bar to have a well-made Negroni.
The minibar is on its way out. Tiny bottles of vodka mixed with an exorbitantly priced orange juice are no longer going to satisfy cocktail connoisseurs.
A solution created by Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles is a series of pre-batch cocktails that guests can order to drink in their rooms. The bottled cocktails are modified versions of the drinks served in the downstairs bar, adjusted so that they can be mass-produced.
Pre-mixed cocktails – once considered cheaper cousins to hand-made drinks, are making a comeback. In 2013, Ryan Chetiyawardana opened White Lyan, a bar dedicated to pre-batching its drinks. For more on the rise of everyday cocktail connoisseurs, watch our video interview with Chetiyawardana.
