Class of 2013: Pop-up celebrates young creatives

21 : 11 : 2013 London : Inflatable : Geo Luxe

London – To showcase the work of this year’s Bright Young Things, Selfridges enlisted French design studio Bonsoir Paris to create The Concept Store and a window display, which inject a dose of fun into the upscale department store.

Bright Young Things is Selfridges’ annual initiative to support the latest generation of creative design talent in the UK. The pop-up store, which houses the work of the 15 budding creatives, encapsulates the youthful ethos of the initiative, using contrasting materials such as marble and inflated plastic sculptures.

‘Our idea for the Concept Store and window display was to create a simple mix of ephemeral inflatable modules and timeless marble forms,’ say the designers. ‘This is our interpretation of Bright Young Things: splendour and freshness.’

The playful combination of luxurious materials and inexpensive plastic references our Geo Luxe design direction, which sees designers juxtaposing unlikely materials to create an elegant, vibrant effect.
