Treviso, Italy – Electronic musician Edisonnoside (Davide Cairo) has released his debut album Sadly By Your Side in a non-traditional distribution model, as a book and an iOS app.

Angelo Semeraro, a designer at Italian creative studio Fabrica, created an interactive listening experience. As listeners hear the music through the app, they can point their smartphone at a different environment and the sounds will change depending on the images that it focuses on.

‘Apps can turn the listener into a user, and the listening experience into a full sensorial experience. I find it really powerful’ Semeraro tells LS:N Global. ‘Mobile devices allow people to listen to music in many different places, so I thought that maybe the music can adapt to these places and give a personal listening experience.’

The app is part of Fabrica’s larger Objectify mp3 project, which is designed to re-invent how music is distributed, to create a new experience between listener and the music.

Sound has the power to move and the power to create new relationships with your environment, a phenomenon we explored in our Soundscapes macrotrend.
