Auto-brew: Make beer at home

03 : 10 : 2013 Digital : Brewbot : Beer-making

Belfast – Beer brewing is a craft that has long been left to the experts, but mobile product design company Cargo has created an automated system, linked to an app, that can guide even the most unknowing of people in the art of beer-making.

The Brewbot – now on Kickstarter – automates parts of the process to ensure that amateur brewers can create a consistent batch each time. The app guides users about when to add ingredients, and the device adds the correct amount of water, at the right temperature. It offers the precision, the timing and the temperature needed in brewing, while allowing the user to concentrate on the recipe.

‘With Brewbot, we see a way of taking an age-old process and marrying it with technology,’ says Cargo developer Niall Kelly.

The rise of craft beers means that more people are curious about their brew, even wanting to try their hand at the tradition. To learn more, read our Men’s Beer Market report.
