Soft sell: Bank opts for a restaurant experience

Italy – Italian design consultancy DINN! has teamed up with brand agency Crea International in a new venture for ChiantiBanca – a store concept makeover that evokes the spirit of a Tuscan restaurant.

DINN! says its relational approach offers visitors a more reassuring and confidential experience, thanks to counselling areas that encourage a relaxed intimacy. The space is characterised by natural materials such as wood and a soothing colour palette that conjures up traditional Italian warmth and informality. DINN! adds that ‘the new service design gives life to an environment that recalls the inns of Chianti’.

Other innovative features include sleek ATM stations, a video communications wall and no cash desks, further softening the impression of the space as a bank. The brand suggests the new look could become an ‘opportunity to promote local products’.

By consciously evoking the heritage of Tuscan hospitality spaces, the project plays with Symbiotic Branding while relying on a more crafted aesthetic that eschews the cold modernism of many financial institution interiors.
