Snap action: Sofa hacks it in the living room

UK – The new Bungy Sofa enables people to customise their couch with elasticated yellow cords.

Conceived and executed by furniture design graduate Leala Dymond, the Bungy Sofa has been made ‘adjustable to everyone’s comfort’ through a quirky, canary yellow bungee grid that binds together the denim-hued upholstery and is woven through the walnut frame. The elasticated cords enable users to snap cushions into slip-free arrangements, or to keep hold of accessories such as magazines, books or remote controls.

Dymond was awarded the 100% Design Award at this year’s New Designers showcase, where the judges called it a ‘playful and highly accessible’ product with ‘huge potential’.

The Bungy Sofa displays design sensitivity for the Hacked Home consumer who seeks multifunctional homeware that invites modification, personal adaptability and clever use of space. The incorporation of traditionally outdoor materials such as bungee cords and grosgrain, is also on the rise as designers embrace the individualistic aesthetic of Adventurism.
